Honoring Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month
From the bustling streets of Chinatown and serene temples of Little Tokyo, to the towers of Koreatown and aromas of frying foods in Historic Filipinotown, Asian and Pacific Islander (AAPI) cultures are an indelible part of Los Angeles. That is why each May, the city recognizes AAPI Heritage Month.
At LADOT, our diverse workforce is a reflection of our city. We’ll celebrate this month by acknowledging staff members who are of Asian and Pacific Islander descent. Some are recent immigrants while others have families that…
Announcing the 2023 LADOT Annual Report
I am excited to present LADOT's 2023 Annual Report, my first as General Manager! It has been an incredible experience so far, and I am honored to share with you the accomplishments of the hardworking women and men of this department that continue to advance the transportation goals of Los Angeles.
LADOT had a busy year, advancing key safety projects, delivering essential services, and expanding mobility options for all Angelenos. We improved safety for children and their caretakers at more than 200 schools across the city with reduced…
Celebrating Service
This week, LADOT recognized members of our staff who have dedicated over 25 years of service to the department. These included members of our Executive Staff, Mobility Management Division, Project Delivery, Field Services, Planning & Innovation, and Administrative Services. The opportunity to work alongside dedicated individuals who have spent over a quarter century in service of the City of Los Angeles is one of the most rewarding aspects of this job. Few people can claim to have had as much impact in improving the lives of Los Angeles residents as these…
E-Bikes for South LA
I am thrilled to announce the launch of South LA's first e-bike library, a pivotal step forward in our commitment to enhancing mobility options and fostering a more equitable transportation landscape. I am so proud to introduce this innovative element of our ongoing efforts under the Universal Basic Mobility pilot (UBM) program.
The e-bike library represents more than just a mode of transportation - it symbolizes accessibility, sustainability, and empowerment for residents of South Los Angeles. With this program, 250 e-bikes are available for registered…
Earth Month and the South LA Eco-Lab
April is recognized around the world as Earth Month. At LADOT, we recognize the critical role transportation policy plays in building a more sustainable future for our city and planet. Last weekend we kicked off one of our most ambitious projects to improve environmental outcomes in communities most impacted by pollution: the South LA Eco-Lab.
LADOT is working closely with a coalition of community groups to launch this initiative, which is made possible with nearly $60 million in state and local grants. The project will further a socially…
Al Fresco Webinars
The City of Los Angeles launched the LA Al Fresco program to support restaurants during the early stages of the pandemic. The program allowed restaurants to continue serving patrons outdoors while indoor dining was restricted, and became a lifeline for these local businesses. As the need for pandemic restrictions has passed, LA Al Fresco proves to be a popular program that repurposes public space in support of community and economic vitality of neighborhoods.
In response to the program’s popularity last year, the City Council adopted an ordinance making LA…
"It's Time for Dodger Baseball!"
That's right, dust off your caps, break out your foam fingers, and get ready to cheer because Dodger baseball begins this week!
Opening Day is always a special occasion, filled with anticipation, excitement, and the promise of a thrilling season ahead. It's a time when fans come together to cheer on our beloved team, united in our love for the game and our city.
At LADOT, we take pride in our role of making sure fans can get to and from Dodger Stadium on game day safely and efficiently. For each home game of the coming season, LADOT…
Neighborhood Speed Hump Program
Tomorrow, March 21st at 9:00 AM, LADOT will accept applications for the 2024 Residential Speed Hump Program. Speeding on residential streets puts our communities at risk and is a safety concern for all Angelenos. A pedestrian hit by a vehicle going 20 miles per hour has a 90 percent chance of survival, but the likelihood of a pedestrian surviving a crash at 40 miles per hour drops to 20%. That's why LADOT uses every tool available to design streets that are safe for our most vulnerable users.
Speed Humps are a key tool to improve safety and…

This event attracts thousands of athletes from around the world to run from Dodger Stadium to Century City through the heart of our City.
