LADOT Provides More Options
to Get Around

Hollywood scramble crosswalk

With 52 different divisions -- from parking to bike lanes to buses -- LADOT provides you options to get around.

We’re getting back to basics. We’re making your streets safer by investing millions of dollars each year on new and improved traffic signals, safer crosswalks, more protected bike lanes, and enforceable speed limits. We’re using data to make better decisions. And we’re focused on schools and senior communities to protect our most vulnerable travelers.

We’re problem solving. We created the largest electric vehicle car share program in the country, Blue LA. We launched the largest dockless scooter and bike share program in the world, with over 36,000 scooters and bikes available to you. We also expanded LADOT transit services to more neighborhoods with better routes.

We’re building the city of the future using more advanced technology to make sure new transportation innovations benefit everyone. Check out our projects to see how we are improving your travel choices.

Transportation Services

People should have comfortable and safe options to get around Los Angeles. To accommodate all different kinds of travelers, LADOT has created a number of transportation programs, including the largest car share and micro mobility programs in the country and a new on-demand transit program. LADOT has also improved its bus service and bicycling amenities, and expanded options for people taking a taxi and other for-hire vehicles.

In Los Angeles, transportation accounts for 19% of our greenhouse gas emissions and is a top contributor to air pollution. We can do better. Through the Green New Deal, we’re investing in public transit, testing new technology, and adopting mobility innovations for a cleaner environment and brighter future. Our future is one where all people can walk, scoot, bike, rideshare, and take public transit with ease. Our future is a city whose transportation system is as dynamic as its people.

UBM
UBM Logo

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) has a vision that in Los Angeles, all people have access to safe and affordable transportation choices that treat everyone with dignity and support an equitable, thriving city. LADOT seeks to eliminate the functional and/or structural immobility people experience due to racism and other systemic marginalization, cost burdens, and other forms of exclusion by adopting a Universal Basic Mobility (UBM) approach to transportation. When people’s right to movement is restricted, their personal health and wellbeing, productivity and belonging, and happiness are negatively affected.
