Happy New Year from LADOT!
As we prepare to enter 2026, I want to wish the City of Los Angeles a happy, hopeful New Year. However you plan to ring in the New Year, please celebrate responsibly. To assist and support your travels, all LADOT Transit service will be free New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day!
There is much to look forward to in 2026 with major events like the World Cup coming to Los Angeles. For LADOT, we will continue to deliver safer streets, better mobility, and more reliable ways to get around for everyone. From redesigning corridors to improve safety and transit initiatives to improve mobility, our focus remains on making our transportation work better for all Angelenos.
We look forward to getting to work. Thank you for your partnership, your feedback, and your trust. Here’s to a year of progress, possibility, and moving Los Angeles forward, safely, together.

LADOT Crews Respond to Holiday Storms
Last week, LADOT crews leaped into action to respond to impacts from rain and wind, including an EF-0 tornado confirmed by the National Weather Service (NWS) that occurred in Boyle Heights on December 25. Traffic Officers and Special Traffic Operations teams safely guided drivers away from blocked or flooded roads. Traffic Signal Repair units and ATSAC responded to reports of traffic signal outages. LADOT Transit rerouted the DASH Pacoima route on Christmas Eve due to a mudslide. And LADOT delivered a Changeable Message Sign to warn of flooding in the East Valley.
Rain is again expected to impact the region through Saturday, with the storm predicted to peak Wednesday and Friday nights. LADOT again reminds drivers to allow extra travel time, obey all Traffic Officer instructions, and use your headlights. Sign up for NotifyLA to get timely local emergency alerts.
