LADOT Wishes You a Happy Thanksgiving
As we head into Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude with every Angeleno who helps keep Los Angeles moving. Whether you’re catching a DASH to see loved ones, taking a scenic walk through your neighborhood, or driving across town for a family feast, your journeys remind us what this season is all about: connection.
Transportation may be what we do, but it’s people like you who give it purpose. Every trip taken brings families together, supports local businesses, and keeps our city vibrant and alive. This time of year, as we gather around tables and give thanks, I’m especially grateful for our LADOT team and community partners who work tirelessly to make those moments possible, keeping our streets safer and travel smoother for everyone.
From all of us at LADOT, we wish you safe travels, full plates, and joyful gatherings. However you celebrate, may your Thanksgiving be filled with warmth, laughter, and a smooth ride to every destination.

City Announces Closure of Section of Pico Boulevard Through March 2028
The City of Los Angeles announced last week that as part of the $2.6 billion LA Convention Center Expansion and Modernization Project, Pico Boulevard will be closed between LA Live Way and Figueroa Street beginning Thursday, December 4, 2025. The closure will be in place until March 31, 2028.
The closure will be 24 hours, 7 days a week to allow for the construction of the LACC expansion structure over Pico Boulevard, which will connect the existing South and West Exhibit Halls.
Eastbound vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians will be detoured north onto LA Live Way, east on Olympic Blvd, and south on Figueroa St to continue on to Pico Blvd. Traveling westbound, vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians will be detoured south on Figueroa St, west on Venice Blvd, and north on Union Ave.
Metro Line 30 serving Pico Blvd will be detoured between Union Ave and Figueroa St. During the closure, buses will detour north and southbound on Union Ave, west and eastbound on Olympic Blvd, and north and southbound on Figueroa St. Visit Metro’s website for details of stops along the detour.
Please allow extra time if you plan to travel through the area and obey all Traffic Officer instructions.

CicLAvia Brings Stranger Things to Melrose Ave
Last weekend, we narrowly escaped the Demogorgon as Melrose Ave was transformed into Hawkins for Netflix x CicLAvia: Stranger Things 5 One Last Ride! Four miles of the street was closed to car traffic and opened up for a day of biking, walking, and colliding with the mysteries of the Upside Down.
LADOT Outreach Teams were present at the Vermont Hub to gather feedback about our Mobility Action Plan (MAP), a plan to guide LA’s transportation investments for the next 5 and 20 years. If you didn’t get a chance to stop by, we would still love to hear from you! Learn more about the MAP and share your feedback.
This was the last CicLAvia of 2025, but stay tuned for an announcement on events coming in 2026!
