MAP Implementation and Next Steps

The MAP is a framework for guiding future transportation investment decisions. LADOT will use the MAP to coordinate near-term priorities, longer-term needs, programs, policy and process changes, and future updates with the Citywide CIP and budget processes.
The Citywide Capital Infrastructure Program, or CIP, is the City’s broader process for planning and coordinating major public investments. The MAP helps identify the transportation priorities that LADOT will bring into that process.
The 5-Year Plan identifies near-term mobility investments that may be considered for future CIP and budget cycles. The 20-Year Transportation Strategy identifies longer-term needs that can inform future planning, funding discussions, and MAP updates.
Through future CIP coordination, LADOT and partner departments will consider which MAP priorities may be ready for funding, scoping, design, or delivery.
The MAP also recommends policy and process changes that can help Los Angeles plan, fund, deliver, maintain, and update mobility investments over time. These actions focus on project development and delivery, funding and capacity, and programs, engagement, and partnerships.
The full list of recommended policy and process changes is available in the MAP report.

The MAP is meant to guide transportation investment decisions over time. LADOT will continue working with partner departments as projects move through future planning, funding, design, delivery, and Citywide CIP processes.
As needs, funding, data, and project information change, future MAP updates can help refresh the 5-Year Plan, 20-Year Transportation Strategy, related programs, and community priorities.
