Koreatown Festival

Tomorrow marks the start of the 52nd Los Angeles Korean Festival! From October 16–19, Seoul International Park will transform into a celebration of culture, music, and food that brings together communities from across Los Angeles. This year’s theme, Beyond Boundaries, captures the spirit of connection where every neighborhood and culture adds to the rhythm of Los Angeles.

At LADOT, we’re proud to help keep that rhythm moving. With thousands expected to attend, we’re supporting the festival free DASH service on the Wilshire Center/Koreatown route and expanded…

Celebrate 15 Years of CicLAvia in the Heart of LA!

On Sunday, October 12, the streets of Los Angeles will transform into a car-free playground for CicLAvia’s “Heart of LA” marking an extra special 15th anniversary event! This is the route that started it all: seven miles connecting neighborhoods like Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Boyle Heights, Echo Park, and Downtown, offering a truly unique way to experience the historic core of Los Angeles.

CicLAvia allows Angelenos and visitors to rediscover the places and people that make Los Angeles great. With no cars in the way, you can…

New Bike Lane Barriers on 3rd Street

If you’ve rolled down 3rd Street lately, you might have noticed something new: concrete barriers separating traffic lanes from the bike lane between Main and Spring! This treatment - called Toronto Barriers - is made from pre-cast concrete and part of a pilot project designed to provide cyclists greater protection. Since the barriers are made offsite and attached to the roadway, they offer a less expensive safety improvement that can be installed more quickly at more locations across the city than traditional concrete barriers.

This is the…

SoCal Transit Month

This September, LADOT is proud to support SoCal Transit Month! Transit is more than just getting from point A to point B -- it’s about connecting with our city, reducing congestion, and making our communities more accessible for everyone. All month long, Angelenos have been coming together at events across the region to share stories, take rides, and highlight the impact of public transportation in our daily lives.

Here at LADOT, we’re proud to offer a variety of transit options that keep Los Angeles moving forward. From our DASH and Commuter Express buses…

Celebrating Latino Heritage Month

This week marks the beginning of Latino Heritage Month – a time when we acknowledge and celebrate the wide diversity of Latino communities here in Los Angeles. Remembering that the Los Angeles we know and love is unimaginable without the historic and ongoing contributions of Latinos seems particularly important given the times we are in. I look forward to acknowledging and celebrating the history, diversity, and contributions of Los Angeles’ Latino community and highlighting how this rich community helps keep Los Angeles moving.

Safe Connections from Koreatown to Pico-Union

Home to hundreds of businesses, restaurants, and destinations, Koreatown and Pico-Union are two of our City’s most vibrant, historic neighborhoods. But these communities need more safe, people-oriented infrastructure that helps residents and visitors travel from one neighborhood to the other without a car. That’s why LADOT is launching the Koreatown Pico-Union Neighborhood Connect Project – to make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to get around, and build a safer city for all.

The Koreatown Pico-Union Neighborhood Connect…

Midblock Crossings Safety Upgrade

At LADOT, we’re always looking for new ways to make our streets safer and easier to navigate. I’m excited to share that our signal operations staff recently updated the signal pattern for all of the City’s midblock pedestrian signals (crosswalk signals you often see in the middle of a block, where people can cross safely without an intersection) to improve driver compliance and pedestrian safety.

So, what’s new? In the past, when someone pushed the button to cross, drivers would see a flashing red light for the full crossing phase. Now, when…

Pico Boulevard Safety & Mobility Project

If you’ve been on Pico Boulevard between Crenshaw and Figueroa, you know it’s a lively, well-traveled street that connects many neighborhoods in our city. It’s also a street where we can make things a lot safer and easier for everyone to get around! That’s why we’re working on the Pico Boulevard Safety and Mobility Plan, to reimagine Pico in a way that works better for the people who use it most.

Your voice is one of the most important parts of this project - it’s the people who live, work, and travel along Pico every day who know…

Spring/Alameda Safety & Mobility Project

At LADOT, we work to design streets that are safe and accessible for all modes of travel. That’s why we are getting to work on the Spring/Alameda Safety & Mobility Project, an effort to fill mobility gaps for two of Downtown LA’s busiest corridors. Spring Street and Alameda Street is a crucial corridor between residential neighborhoods to the east, jobs in Downtown LA, and the central regional transit hub of Union Station.

This project will reimagine Spring Street and Alameda Street with your mobility needs in mind. But to do…

Back to School: Keeping Kids Safe on LA Streets

The first day of school can be both exciting and intimidating for students as they navigate a new class schedule, or even a new school. At LADOT, we have been hard at work to make sure that navigating how to get to and from campus is the least of their concerns.

For the last two years, we’ve added local funding and investment expanding on the grant-funded Safe Routes to School program to develop and implement a comprehensive safety plan for all schools in Los Angeles. By prioritizing streets and intersections with the highest…
