Reconnecting MacArthur Park Phase 2
Last week, we marked an important milestone for the future of the Westlake community - Phase 2 of the Reconnecting MacArthur Park study! Phase 1, launched with a $500,000 grant from the Southern California Association of Governments, explored options for closing Wilshire Boulevard in MacArthur Park to vehicle traffic, which would restore the park to its original state, and provide vital neighborhood open space
During Phase 1, we held 13 Community Advisory Committee meetings and 62 community events including open houses, dedicated…
Speed Safety Systems Coming to LA
In the City of Los Angeles, approximately 300 people are killed in car crashes every year, and thousands more suffer serious injuries. LADOT continues to implement safety treatments and redesign roadways to reduce traffic crashes, and is expanding its safety toolbox with 125 speed safety systems that will be installed later this summer.
Speeding is the key factor that determines how severe or even deadly a traffic crash is, and speed safety systems are proven to reduce speeding and save lives by issuing low-cost tickets to speeding…
Stay Cool This Summer.
It is officially summer! Summer in LA means beach days, baseball games, and spending time with friends and family–but it also means rising temperatures. Libraries, recreation centers, and swimming pools are great places to beat the summer heat. Cool Spots LA shows Angelenos where they can go to cool off. Many of these locations are served by LADOT Transit’s neighborhood DASH routes, and our buses are air conditioned to keep you comfortable while you travel.
Now is the time to prepare for hotter days ahead! The Los Angeles Regional Collaborative…
School is Out for Summer!
Over the last week, LAUSD officially began Summer vacation!
While students are out of class, LADOT’s work to deliver safer streets continues. Over Summer our comprehensive school safety program will expand as we install additional speed humps, intersection safety treatments, new speed limit reductions, and continue hiring crossing guards to ensure a safe travel environment when students return in the Fall.
And this year, we have an important addition to our toolbox. Our automated Speed Safety Systems program was just approved for…
FIFA World Cup Comes to Los Angeles
The wait is over! The FIFA World Cup kicks off this week and LADOT is here to ensure everyone can access and enjoy the excitement.
Our region will not only host several matches at SoFi Stadium in the neighboring city of Inglewood, the City of Los Angeles will also support several FIFA sponsored fan events and stage free City-sponsored watch parties at parks all over Los Angeles. While you're there, you might notice that LADOT crews have refreshed and updated paint and signs near key locations to support these events. Check out the…
Share Your Feedback on Mobility Near Dodger Stadium
Dodger Stadium is one of our City’s most iconic venues, hosting baseball games, concerts, and other major events with tens of thousands of attendees. That type of demand can create issues of congestion, parking shortages, accessibility concerns, and other challenges for visitors and the many Angelenos who live and work near Elysian Park.
LADOT is conducting a transportation study to identify potential strategies to improve mobility near Dodger Stadium and address these impacts. This study will look at conditions on…
Join LADOT for the Pico Boulevard Open House
LADOT is in the final stages of the design process for the Pico Boulevard Safety and Mobility Safety Plan Project! LADOT created a proposed design for the project area that adds protected bike lanes between Crenshaw Boulevard and Figueroa Street, a continuous center turn lane, new signalized crossings at Manhattan Place and New Hampshire Avenue, new curb ramps, and sidewalk repairs.
This redesign was developed following extensive community outreach, including pop-up and tabling events, presentations to local schools and…

The Metro D Line Extension is Open!
Last week marked a huge milestone for public transportation in Los Angeles: the opening of the Metro D Line extension! Section 1 of the planned extension brings three new transit stations to the region–Wilshire/La Cienega, Wilshire/Fairfax, and Wilshire/La Brea–closing a critical gap in LA’s transit network and connecting Mid-City all the way to Union Station.
The D Line extension will be a game changer for our City. Wilshire Boulevard is one of LA’s busiest corridors, and with these three new stops more Angelenos will have an…
Celebrating Bike Month
May is National Bike Month! Riding a bike has many benefits, like increasing fitness, reducing emissions, and saving money on gas and parking. But perhaps most importantly, riding a bike is fun! At LADOT, we are committed to making our streets safer so that more people can take part in the joy of bicycling. Our goal is to build bicycle infrastructure that ensures everyone–from ages 8 to 80–feels safe and comfortable to ride.
LADOT has several projects in the works to make our City safer for cyclists. Construction is currently underway on the Mid-…
