Supporting Boyle Heights Recovery Following the Lineage Warehouse Fire
With recovery efforts underway following the Lineage Warehouse Fire, LADOT continues to provide service and support in Boyle Heights. LADOT Traffic Officers have been on the ground since the start of the fire, supporting road closures to enable firefighters to work and to keep the public safe. Now that cleanup efforts have begun, LADOT will continue to support road closures needed to remove debris and work to minimize the impact of trucks on the surrounding neighborhood.
LADOT also suspended fare collection on both the DASH Boyle Heights route and Cityride Dial-a-Ride services within Boyle Heights until the emergency declaration is lifted. Additional buses have been added to the DASH Boyle Heights, increasing service to every 10-15 minutes. Residents can use these transportation services to access the Community Resource Center, mobile health clinics, and more.

Construction Underway on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
LADOT, in partnership with Metro, is planning safety and mobility improvements along segments of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, 39th Street, and Broadway Place to provide safer connections between neighborhoods, Metro E and J Line transit hubs, and regional destinations.
Last month, following street resurfacing and pavement repair by StreetsLA, LADOT completed protected bike lanes on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Broadway and Central Avenue. In addition to the bike lane, crews installed six new ADA-accessible parking stalls and 37 new and upgraded curb ramps.
In the coming months, LADOT will install speed humps, sharrows, and bike wayfinding signs on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Protected bike lanes will be installed on Broadway Place between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Main Street and 39th Street between Broadway Place and Figueroa Street. Finally, a traffic signal will be activated at 39th Street and Broadway Place.
Construction is expected to continue through Summer/Fall 2026. We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews continue to work as quickly as possible. Learn more about the Martin Luther King Jr. Safety and Mobility Project.

Construction Advisory: Chandler Boulevard
LADOT wishes to advise all road users of ongoing construction on Chandler Boulevard between Vineland Avenue and Leghorn Avenue due to the installation of the Chandler Bicycle Connection. The Chandler Bicycle Connection is designed to close the gap between the existing G Line Bike Path and Chandler Bike Paths with a low-stress bikeway that is safe and comfortable for all users, providing a more comfortable transportation option for traveling in the neighborhood and across the Valley. To learn more and sign up for updates, visit the Chandler Blvd project website.

LADOT Hosts Sunset Boulevard Construction Walk-Through
The City of Los Angeles is planning improvements along Sunset Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Avenue. Local upgrades will enhance safety and comfort for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders.
Last week, LADOT and Council District 1 hosted a walk-through inviting community members and businesses to preview improvements as a new curb ramp was under construction at the corner of Sunset and Douglas. As the Sunset Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project progresses, LADOT will be announcing additional opportunities to learn about coming improvements and provide feedback on the project.

Park to Park Community Event Opens MacArthur Park
Last weekend, LADOT joined Council District 1 for Park to Park, a community open streets event in MacArthur Park. The event closed the portion of Wilshire Boulevard that bisects the park to vehicle traffic, and opened it for a day of World Cup watch parties, family friendly activities, and celebration.
Council District 1 and LADOT are currently exploring options for closing Wilshire Boulevard in MacArthur park to vehicle traffic permanently, restoring the park to its initial state and providing valuable open space for the community. The Reconnecting MacArthur Park study recently entered Phase 2, led by the Bureau of Engineering. If realized, Reconnecting MacArthur Park would be the largest pedestrianization project in Los Angeles history.
