A Message from LADOT General Manager Laura Rubio-Cornejo
Just seven weeks into my tenure as General Manager at LADOT, I was confronted with my first transportation emergency: the I-10 freeway closure. The I-10 carries an estimated 300,000 vehicles per day, and the impact of losing this critical piece of the region's transportation network immediately kicked my transition into high gear as the City worked to address and respond to the closure. Under the leadership of Mayor Karen Bass, supported by an amazingly talented and skilled LADOT team, and working closely with Caltrans, Metro, and Metrolink, Angelenos truly rose to the occasion and we overcame this challenge together.
For me, the freeway closure made the importance of a balanced, multi-modal transportation network clearer than ever. Access to safe and efficient mobility options allow us all to travel to and throughout our great city even when one piece of the network is missing. As General Manager of LADOT, I am committed to strengthening an already diverse transportation network and advancing multi-modal transportation solutions that reflect how all Angelenos travel.
On this Thanksgiving eve, I am thankful to Angelenos for your patience as we worked to reopen the freeway, our regional and state partners for your collaboration, and most of all for the LADOT team that put in countless hours of service to the City of Los Angeles.

🎉 Good news! I-10 freeway reopens in DTLA
Thanks to the continuous efforts of various crews and agencies, the I-10 freeway in Downtown Los Angeles has reopened weeks ahead of the initially projected repair schedule. This timely completion, just before the Thanksgiving holiday, minimizes disruption for Los Angeles commuters.
Before reopening the freeway, Caltrans conducted extensive safety tests to ensure that the concrete and temporary supports can bear weight safely while construction continues.
As repairs continue over the coming months, drivers should anticipate occasional weekend and overnight closures, along with intermittent lane closures. Exercise patience, drive safely, and heed Traffic Officer instructions.
As of November 22, the previously closed I-10 W Alameda exit and 8th Street on-ramp are now open.
Thank you to the Traffic Officers who worked around the clock during the closure, as well as the LADOT engineers and ATSAC team, who played a pivotal role in planning and executing the coordination and management of excess traffic city streets.
LADOT Transit Commuter Express buses will continue to be fare-free through the end of 2023 to provide a comfortable, convenient, and affordable way to get to and from DTLA. Find your route at: www.ladottransit.com

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, be advised that LADOT will observe relaxed parking regulations on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24. Please note that while there will be no street sweeping on Friday, meters and other parking regulations will be enforced. While the holiday season is a joyous time for family gatherings, we encourage you to prioritize safety on the roads. Remember to allow extra travel time, drive responsibly, and avoid drinking and driving. Consider using public transportation or rideshare services as an alternative to driving.
Now Hiring: Crossing Guards
LADOT is now accepting applications for new Crossing Guards. Crossing guards keep students safe traveling to and from school and help educate and instill safe, alert walking behaviors in young Angelenos. Our crossing guards are placed at schools throughout the city and help provide experience and judgment to help children navigate a school crossing, while also increasing the visibility of their presence to drivers.
