Mayor Karen Bass Signs Executive Directive To Improve 311 Customer Service

This week, Mayor Karen Bass signed her fifth executive directive to improve the experience of Angelenos using 311 to request city services. Mayor Bass aims to reduce wait times, improve service quality, and enhance communication regarding service requests, making Los Angeles a more livable city for all.

As a result of the directive, the City will establish a Customer Service Steering Committee to oversee the modernization of the existing 311 system. This will include establishing performance standards and improving coordination between departments.

Residents can submit service requests by visiting MyLA311 online, by downloading the MyLA311 mobile app, or by dialing 311 on a phone in Los Angeles. Transportation services like reporting safety concerns or traffic device maintenance requests are also available on 311.

Colorado Boulevard Pedestrian Improvements Activation Ceremony

LADOT recently joined CD14 to celebrate the completion of pedestrian improvements along Colorado Blvd. The $12 million project funded by grants from Metro and the state's Active Transportation program included:

76 new street trees
32 bus benches
2 new traffic signals
1 HAWK beacon
139 curb ramps
272 pedestrian lights
3,000 linear feet of sidewalk repair

LADOT partnered with the Department of Public Works' Bureaus for Street Lighting, Engineerring, and StreetsLA to deliver this transformative project.

The projects success is largely owed to the advocacy of the Eagle Rock Association and Take Back the Boulevard who first began advocating for a more pedestrian friendly Colorado Blvd more than 10 years ago. This collective effort was instrumental in transforming Colorado Blvd into a safer, more accessible, and more inviting space for everyone to enjoy.

Recap: ArroyoFest Returns to the 110 Freeway

Over the weekend, ArroyoFest brought together thousands of community members for a day of recreation and celebration. Angelenos biked, walked, and rolled down six miles of the iconic 110 Freeway, also known as the Arroyo Seco Parkway. This marked the second instance in LA history--and the first time in 20 years--where this historic freeway was converted into open streets for all to enjoy.

Events like these are possible with the help and coordination of our dedicated Traffic Officers and Special Traffic Operations team, who manage safe traffic flow and detours. ArroyoFest was presented by ActiveSGV and Metro.

Now Hiring: Crossing Guards

LADOT is now accepting applications for new Crossing Guards. Crossing guards keep students safe traveling to and from school and help educate and instill safe, alert walking behaviors in young Angelenos. Our crossing guards are placed at schools throughout the city and help provide experience and judgment to help children navigate a school crossing, while also increasing the visibility of their presence to drivers.
