Ribbon Cutting for New Signals Along Ventura Blvd
Last week, LADOT joined Councilmember Nithya Raman to cut the ribbon and celebrate the activation of three new signals along Ventura Blvd. The signal improvements include curb ramps, new pavement, and striping along with the traffic signal.
Efforts to install a signal at this location began 10 years ago at the request of the Chabad of Sherman Oaks whose membership makes frequent use of the crossing at Lemona & Ventura. LADOT worked to study this location to provide data proving that the location had sufficient foot traffic to warrant a signal. Partnering with Cal Trans, LADOT applied for federal grant funding through the Highway Safety Improvement Program to fund the project. New curb ramps, installed in partnership with the Department of Public Works to ensure accessibility of the sidewalk, were also required to complete the project.
We are thankful for the collaboration of communities, city departments and the council office to help us deliver this this project for the Sherman Oaks Community.
