Construction Begins on Roscoe Blvd Bus Only Lanes

Construction Begins on Roscoe Blvd Bus Only Lanes

LADOT has begun construction in the San Fernando Valley for Bus Only lanes on Roscoe Blvd. The new lanes are part of Metro's North San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor and will increase connectivity by adding 22 miles of peak-hour bus lanes that extend from Topanga Canyon Blvd in the west to Coldwater Canyon in the east, with a brief gap near the I-405 ramps. The lanes will operate during the morning and afternoon peak hours with up to 82 bus bulbs at key locations to improve speed and reliability.

This project will also bring additional quality-of-life improvements that will improve the rider experience such as 400 new bus shelters throughout the San Fernando Valley, with more significant upgrades at 5 key transfer locations: Roscoe/Reseda, Nordhoff/Lindley, Roscoe/Van Nuys, Nordhoff/Van Nuys, Cal State Northridge University Transit Center. The project will also add transit signal priority on seven corridors to reduce any delay for buses at intersections.

The Roscoe Blvd Bus Only Lanes represent a significant step towards achieving the goal of a faster, reliable, and sustainable bus service for the community. Thanks to this improved transit reliability, riders will be able to better access critical amenities such as education, employment, and medical services.

Benedict Canyon Drive Re Opens to Vehicle Traffic

Benedict Canyon Drive Re-Opens to Vehicle Traffic

After four months of closures, LADOT is pleased to share that Benedict Canyon is now open for vehicle traffic. Earlier this year, heavy rainfall caused serious erosion, leading to the closure of the street for safety. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the Bureau of Engineering, the necessary repairs are complete, and the street is safe for travel again.

During the closure, LADOT worked to ensure the roads were safely closed and that clear redirection was in place to minimize inconvenience. We appreciate your patience during the closure and are happy to welcome you back to a safe and improved Benedict Canyon.
