L.A. Metro Resumes Fare Collection

Bus fare collection resumed this week for L.A. metro buses in Los Angeles. Note that LADOT DASH service remains fare free for all riders.

We encourage riders in need of financial assistance to enroll in Metro's Low Income Fare Is Easy (LIFE) Program to receive deeply discounted fares. Right now passes are on sale for half-price for transit riders and will be available through July 2022. To apply for the LIFE program you can submit your application online at www.metro.net/life or www.taptogo.net/life, via email, or at a Metro Customer Center. Additionally newly enrolled LIFE participants will get 90 days of free rides. To learn more about the return of Metro bus fare visit www.metro.net

LADOT's Landmark Gender Equity Study "Changing Lanes" Featured in Forbes

Last year, LADOT published Changing Lanes, a landmark gender equity study which looked at the ways in which Transit agencies like LADOT could better serve the needs fo women in Los Angeles.

The study gathered data from women in L.A. and how they experience getting around the city. The results of this study reveal some crucial challenges for women ranging from safety concerns and the use of multiple forms of transportation to the lack of access to smartphones. Changing Lanes offers various recommendations that could help address these challenges to improve the experience of transportation for women.

Forbes recently published an article authored by LADOT General Manager Seleta which further explores these questions and how we are taking steps to achieve greater gender equity in our transportation system.

Safety Improvements Coming to Yosemite

StreetsLA, the Office of Councilmember Kevin de León, and community partners are working with LADOT to continue improving Yosemite Drive between Eagle Rock Boulevard and Townsend Ave beginning in January 2022.

The first phase of the Slow Yosemite project was installed in August 2021 and included new stop signs and upgraded crosswalks on Yosemite Drive between Eagle Rock Boulevard and Townsend Ave.

In January 2022, LADOT will support street resurfacing activities and install fresh paint along Yosemite Drive while adding features to improve safety and encourage safer speeds. These features include new bicycle lanes, sharrows, signage, and pavement markings.

710 Mobility Hub Plan

The purpose of this plan is to improve mobility and quality of life in the heavily congested region surrounding the northern end of the 710 Freeway.
