CicLAvia Returns This Sunday

CicLAvia Returns This Sunday

CicLAvia is back this weekend! We’ll be kicking off the 2026 season this Sunday, April 26, with a new route through West LA, running along Westwood Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. From 9am - 4pm three miles of streets will be closed to cars and open for moving, exploring, and connecting with neighbors.

Open streets events like CicLAvia serve as a powerful reminder of what our City streets can be when we prioritize people and create spaces for community. Streets can bring people together and be more than just how we get from A to B. Streets can support a rich, healthy, connected Los Angeles.

This message resonates even more powerfully during Earth Month. Choosing to walk, bike, or roll helps reduce emissions and improves air quality. Just as important, it shows how we can build a City that is more sustainable, more accessible, and more enjoyable for everyone.

For more information about CicLAvia: West LA, you can visit CicLAvia’s website. See you there!

LADOT Activates Five Upgraded Signals

LADOT Activates Five Upgraded Signals

Jacaranda trees aren’t the only things blooming across the City–thanks to our hardworking LADOT crews, pedestrian safety upgrades have been sprouting across town! LADOT activated two new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons, or HAWK signals, on West Adams Boulevard, at the intersections of Wellington Road and South Palm Grove Avenue. Unlike traditional flashing beacons, HAWK signals provide drivers with a steady red light when pedestrians are crossing, making them more visible and safer.

Two additional intersections received new left turn modifications: Venice Avenue & Girard Avenue and West Pico Boulevard & South Catalina Street. These upgrades help protect pedestrians from drivers turning left while maintaining a safe and smooth flow of traffic through the intersection. An additional left turn modification at West Pico Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard will be activated tomorrow.

Thanks to our crews for their work to make our City streets safer for all and supporting pedestrian access to schools, shopping, and community resources.

Now Hiring Crossing Guards

Now Hiring: Crossing Guards

LADOT is now accepting applications for new Crossing Guards! Crossing guards keep students safe traveling to and from school and help instill safe, alert walking behaviors in young Angelenos. Our crossing guards are placed at schools throughout the City and educate children on how to navigate a street crossing while increasing their visibility to drivers.

If you are interested in applying for a crossing guard position, please visit LADOT website
