UBM Expands with New Bike Wallet Pilot

UBM Expands with New Bike Wallet Pilot

LADOT’s Universal Basic Mobility (UBM) Pilot program seeks to eliminate the mobility barriers and reduce emissions in historically underserved neighborhoods. Since expanding the Mobility Wallet into Phase II and launching the South LA LAnow on demand shuttle, we’ve continued to make progress providing green transportation options through the UBM pilot!

The South Central Power Up (SCPU) program, launched in 2024, expands mobility options in South LA by providing long-term loans of e-bikes to participants at no cost. Now, LADOT and Metro are offering current SCPU users a chance to participate in the Bike Wallet Pilot. Participants will have access to up to $1,800 for the purchase of a bike, e-bike, or scooter at two UBM partner participating bike shops: Ride On and Ride With US. Participants will return their SCPU bike upon receipt of their new bike, giving new participants on the SPCU waiting list the opportunity to join the e-bike lending library.

If you’re a South LA resident interested in SCPU, I encourage you to visit the South Central Power Up website and sign up for the program waitlist. If you want to learn more about UBM, please visit the UBM website.
