Last Thursday, LADOT joined Los Angeles City Council District 14 Councilmember Kevin de Leon, community members, and local schoolchildren to activate a new high-intensity activated crosswalk at the intersection of Eagle Rock Boulevard and Merton Avenue in Eagle Rock. Also known as a pedestrian hybrid or HAWK beacon, this new type of pedestrian signal serves as an improvement over other types of flashing beacons and utilizes a red signal to prompt vehicles to stop as pedestrians cross the street. In addition to reducing collisions at crossings, HAWK beacons…

Sometimes referred to as a pedestrian hybrid beacon or HAWK beacon, this innovative signal represents an improvement over different types of flashing beacons as it utilizes a red signal that forces vehicles to come to a complete stop before pedestrians — or, as is sometimes the case in…
On Monday, August 23, LADOT Transit launched a pilot program that allows passengers to make “on-demand” stops on select DASH routes to better serve the needs of Angelenos. In addition to disembarking at regular stops, riders on affected routes are now able to request that buses make stops between regular, set stop locations. LADOT's decision to initiate the pilot program follows from the results of its recently released study, Changing Lanes: A Gender Equity Transportation Study, which details the relationship between gender and…
