Speed Hump Program Opening In October
The Neighborhood Speed Hump Program is back! Beginning October 6 at 9:00 am Angelenos can submit their application for speed humps in their neighborhood. Speed humps are designed to help slow the speed of cars in residential areas so that Angelenos can enjoy safe, calm neighborhood streets.
Before applying, please be aware that completing a speed hump request involves multiple steps of engagement and technical review. Once the program opens a link will be provided and participants will be able to submit their applications. Due to high demand, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as the application period opens. The application period will close when 375 applications (25 in each Council District) have been submitted.

Mobility Wallet Applications Open To Qualified Residents In South L.A.
As part of LADOT's South LA Universal Basic Mobility pilot program, the City Of Los Angeles and Metro are offering South L.A residents a chance to receive $150 per month for transportation costs. The Mobility Wallet Pilot Program is now accepting applications for the program which will ultimately provide subsidies for 1000 people that meet the eligibility criteria. Program participants will receive a prepaid debit card to be used to buy fare on public transit (bus or train) and other shared transit options including e-scooters, bikes, carshare, ride-hailing and taxis. To be eligible you must:
Be 18 years of age or older
Live in the South Los Angeles area outlined by the program
Meet the program’s household annual income requirement.
Applications will be accepted until Nov 1, 2022. Metro will complete a randomized selection if the program receives a surplus of applicants.

Ride Through The Heart Of LA with CicLAvia
Get ready for a scenic ride through the Heart of LA. CicLAvia returns on Sunday, October 9th with 7 miles of open streets in Downtown Los Angeles. CicLAvia temporarily closes down roads to car traffic allowing Angelenos to jog, ride, bike, skate, run, walk, skateboard, and enjoy the route however they want. It connects communities to each other across an expansive city, creating a safe place to explore Los Angeles County. Come out from 4 pm to 9 pm and find some gems in the Heart of LA.

Latino Heritage Month Spotlight: Yma Sumac
As we celebrate Latino Heritage Month, we're highlighting individuals and locations that show our city's Latino and Hispanic heritage. Just last week, we joined Councilmember Mitch o O'Farrell at the unveiling Yma Sumac Square in Hollywood at the intersection of Wilcox and Hollywood. Yma was a Peruvian-born singer who ultimately made Los Angeles her home in the 1950s. She is known for having a superhuman vocal range of 5 octaves when most trained singers only have three and is one of the best-known performers of exotica music in her time. She millions of albums sold a star on the Hollywood walk of fame she remains the highest selling Peruvian artist of all time. Take a visit to the newly installed square using our DASH Hollywood line!

Connect Del Rey Bicycle and Safety Improvements
LADOT and Council District 11 are planning a network of four bikeways connecting the Westside neighborhoods. The first corridor is located in the Del Rey area beginning at Culver Blvd/Slauson Ave and heading south ending at Bluff Creek Dr/Campus Center Dr.
Join us this Friday, September 30th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm for a community workshop and an opportunity to learn more details about the proposed project as well a chance to provide input on how it can best be improved. The workshop will be in person at The Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Monica Mar Vista Gardens Branch. There will also be a virtual workshop on October 18th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
We’ve also developed a Virtual Activity Web Tool for those unable to attend in person. This tool offers those who are interested a unique opportunity to identify improvements they want to see in their neighborhood.

California Clean Air Day
Next week October 5th is California Clean Air Day. A big driver of the smog in our climate is the use of gas-powered vehicles. Consider taking public transportation on Clean Air day to reduce the pollution in our air quality. Metro will be offering free rides on all bus, rail, and bike share systems on Clean Air Day. You can also take a fare-free ride on one of our electric DASH buses.

Venice Boulevard Mobility Improvements
The City of Los Angeles and Metro are bringing mobility upgrades to Venice Blvd from Lincoln Blvd to National Blvd. This project proposes adding active transportation and bus improvements to increase comfort and safety for all who travel on Venice Blvd. Let us know how you use Venice Blvd and how to best improve it using this survey.
