3rd Street Bike Lane Gap Closure
The installation of the new parking-protected bike lane is complete and we have officially closed the bicycle network gap on 3rd Street from San Pedro Street to Main Street. The new street design, which also includes fresh paint and upgraded high-visibility crosswalks helps make this bicycle networks much safer and more accessible. These safety improvements allowed us to reach our goals for this project.
- Address safety and support people who are biking, scootering, and walking in the community
- Connect Downtown and Little Tokyo and create a more comfortable trip between destinations/commercial hubs and close the network gaps
- Implement the City’s Mobility Plan 2035
- Consider an opportunity to coordinate City agency efforts to deliver infrastructure effectively
- Declutter sidewalks for pedestrians
- Improve options for sustainable transportation in Little Tokyo/DTLA
