Halloween Safety

Halloween Safety

Halloween in Los Angeles is always a treat. Whether you’re heading out with little ones, enjoying community events, or just admiring the creativity around town, it’s a night that reminds us of the importance of slowing down and connecting.

As we celebrate, let’s also make sure everyone gets home safely. Drivers, keep your eyes peeled for trick-or-treaters and go slow through residential streets. Pedestrians, stay visible with bright or reflective clothing, and avoid distractions like your looking at your phone while walking. And for everyone, if you’re biking, riding transit, or out after dark, make sure you can see and be seen.

From all of us at LADOT, have a fun, safe, and memorable Halloween. Let’s make sure the only thing scary about the night are the costumes—not the roads.

New HAWK Signal Activated

New HAWK Signal Activated at Franklin Ave and Havard Blvd

Last week, LADOT gathered with CD 4, City partners, and the community to celebrate a new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon at Franklin Ave and Harvard Blvd. Located at the mid-point between a half-mile stretch between Western and Normandie without any marked crossing, the new beacon creates a controlled, ADA-accessible way to cross Franklin Ave. This new signal will make it easier and safer for residents to access neighborhood resources like DASH stops and nearby Griffith Park.

LADOT would like to thank local residents for their advocacy, CD 4 and former Assemblymember Laura Friedman for securing state funding, and the Bureau of Street Services for their partnership on the design and installation.

LADOT Supports Dodgers World Series

LADOT Supports Dodgers World Series

Tonight is Game 5 of the World Series! Let's Go Dodgers!

Over the last three days, LADOT and the City of Los Angeles have taken numerous measures to ensure a smooth and safe gameday experience for Dodgers fans and visitors alike. Over forty white glove Traffic Officers have been deployed daily to manage traffic flow around Dodger Stadium. In addition to our Traffic Officers, Special Traffic Operations engineers have also been deployed during games to oversee the Dodger Stadium Express bus lanes and adjust routes for easier ingress and egress from the ball park.

Thanks to our hardworking LADOT staff for ensuring a safe World Series for all. Whether or not the game goes to extra innings, our LADOT crews are always prepared to go the extra mile!

Halloween Safety Stand Down

LADOT Transit Washington Yard Hosts Halloween Safety Stand Down

LADOT Transit’s Washington Yard, which serves Mid-City neighborhoods, recently hosted a Safety Stand Down event for employees themed to the movie The Warriors. The event promoted safety in a fun and effective way while celebrating Halloween.

Division 590 focused on Defensive Driving, sharing important defensive driving messages with brochures, radio announcements, and more. The Division Safety Team also engaged operators with mobility checks and interactive defensive driving games.

This positive, energetic event was united by one shared goal: At Division 590, we are a team of Safety Warriors, and our mission is to promote defensive driving skills, so everyone goes home safely every day.
