Lets Go Dodgers

Let's Go Dodgers!

It’s time for Dodgers baseball! This Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers will take on the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the World Series at Dodgers Stadium and we are thrilled to welcome baseball fans from around the world to cheer on the boys in blue.

In addition to the World Series, this weekend will see a variety of sporting events and concerts across LA. The USC Trojans take on Rutgers at the Coliseum, the Lakers will hold court at the Crypto Arena, and musicians will be taking the stage at LA Live and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Special events like these are what make Los Angeles a unique and exciting place to live, but all that fun can result in increased congestion.

If you’re attending one of these events or traveling through the area, you can avoid the stress of driving and parking by taking public transportation! For the World Series, Metro will run their Dodger Stadium Express service, which takes riders from Union Station right to the game for free with your ticket. Both LADOT and LA Metro offer other options to access each of these venues - please visit www.ladottransit.com or www.metro.net to plan your route in advance.

To alleviate traffic impacts for those who do need to drive during these planned events, LADOT will deploy more than 100 Traffic Officers to manage traffic flow, and 30 Special Traffic Operations Engineers to implement special event treatments such as the Dodgers Express Bus Lane, reversible lanes to manage higher volume traffic flows, and closures on local streets to reduce impacts on residential areas. Our ATSAC Center will also be actively monitoring congestion at key intersections and can adjust signal timing in response to real-time traffic conditions.

Thank you for your cooperation and your patience. Let’s Go Dodgers!

Halloween Safety Tips for Drivers and Trick or Treaters

Halloween Safety Tips for Drivers and Trick-or-Treaters

As Halloween approaches and our City streets fill with witches, monsters, and ghouls, LADOT reminds you to stay safe by following these Spooky Season Safety Tips!

For Drivers:

  • Slow down and stay alert for children. Use your headlights.
  • Large trucks and SUVs have a large front blind spot. Be aware that children crossing in front of your vehicle may not be visible.
  • Don’t drink and drive. Make a plan to take public transportation or rideshare instead.

For Parents and Trick-or-Treaters:

  • Before heading out to trick-or-treat, talk to your children about crossing the street safely. Emphasize stopping at the curb, looking both ways, listening for traffic, and only crossing at crosswalks and dedicated intersections.
  • Make sure your child’s costume doesn’t affect their sight. Avoid full-face masks or sunglasses at night.
  • Increase your visibility by wearing light or reflective clothing, and carrying a flashlight or glowstick.

Remember that safety always comes first. Together we can make this a spooktacular Halloween!

New Signal Activated at Whittier and Orme

New Signal Activated at Whittier and Orme

LADOT joined Councilmember Kevin DeLeon, CD14, and community members for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Orme Avenue to mark the activation of a new Hybrid Beacon and the completion of new curb ramps and crosswalks. The improvements aim to enhance pedestrian safety at a location that has long been a concern for the community.

Whittier and Orme became a focus of advocacy following a severe crash that resulted in a teenager losing a leg. LADOT responded by installing a temporary Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) to address safety needs while designing a more comprehensive solution.

In partnership with the Department of Public Works, LADOT replaced the RRFB with the permanent Hybrid Beacon and new curb infrastructure, providing safer crossing options for everyone. These upgrades reflect the power of collaboration between City leaders, agencies, and community members to build safer streets for Los Angeles.

Community Bike Ride Celebrates Hollywood Boulevard

Community Bike Ride Celebrates Hollywood Boulevard

Last weekend, LADOT and Metro Bike Share hosted a community ride on Hollywood Boulevard to explore the new bike lanes, meet neighbors, and enjoy one our City’s most iconic streets. Thanks to all who joined us for the four mile ride!

The Hollywood Blvd Bike Lanes, opened in August, have received positive feedback from cyclists and pedestrians alike. Community members have written to LADOT to express that the new bike lanes have made it easier to commute, support businesses in Thai Town, and run errands. “I’ve been using [the bike lanes] to travel to businesses I previously wouldn’t go to even by car just because of how hostile it used to be to get there,” writes one cyclist.

“This is the first time my girlfriend has biked since we moved back here years ago,” wrote another cyclist, adding that despite being an experienced rider, she had previously felt uncomfortable riding on City streets. “It was so fun to finally [ride bikes] again together as a couple. …It’s really made the neighborhood seem so much smaller and more accessible.”

Connect Del Rey

Learn More About the Connect Del Rey Bicycle and Safety Improvements at Del Rey Day

LADOT will be on hand at Del Rey Day this Sunday, October 27 at Bill Rosendahl Park (4601 Alla Road, Los Angeles, CA 90292) from 11am-4pm to share an updated design for Connect Del Rey.
