On the Road to Stress Free Streets

LADOT is on the road to building stress free streets in Los Angeles and needs your assistance to identify priorities to help achieve this goal. While transportation planners have often been able to assess where street improvements are needed through the use of more traditional metrics such as collision volumes, number of marked crosswalks, and bicycle lane miles, there is one question that has often been more difficult to answer: Do streets feel safe and do they adequately connect people to where they want to go? For transportation planners, this is a difficult question to answer as reported feelings of safety may vary from person to person. To address this problem, LADOT seeks to gather as much feedback as possible from people who use our city’s street network in order to determine which streets are most in need of improvement. To assist in this process, LADOT asks all interested parties to please fill out and submit responses to the Central LA: Planning for Stress Free Connections survey by clicking here and the South LA: Planning for Stress Free Connections survey by clicking here. Your responses will help shape both the future of our city’s streets and the safety of those who use them.

Adams Blvd Safety Project Update

LADOT is proposing changes to Adams Boulevard that will improve traffic safety and accessibility for all. Proposed changes include pavement repair, signal upgrades, bike lanes, lane reduction, pedestrian beacons, pedestrian refuge islands, and other safety treatments.
