PCH Reopens After Wildfire Closures
Thanks to the coordinated effort of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the California National Guard, the State Department of Transportation CalTrans, Los Angeles County, and City agencies like LADOT, the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) reopened just before the Memorial Day weekend!
While PCH has re-opened to the general public, speed limits in the impacted areas are reduced to 25 mph, and the Palisades neighborhood adjacent to PCH remains closed to non-residents and those without authorized access. See the article below for full details including how and where we will be reinstituting regular parking enforcement outside of the restricted areas.
If you must use PCH, expect heavier traffic than usual as people return to their routines and as construction continues in some areas to reinforce hillside stability and restore full services. Please obey posted speed limits, watch for crews still at work, and stay alert to changing conditions. Safety is our shared responsibility. Thank you for your patience and your commitment to safety as we continue to rebuild, together.
PCH Opens and Relaxed Traffic Enforcement in Parts of Palisades Ends
As the City continues recovery efforts in the Palisades along with the re-opening of the Pacific Coast Highway, LADOT will be ending relaxed traffic enforcement in the areas south of Sunset Blvd and east of Mandeville Canyon Road on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
In the map above, the area marked in the boundary in red had been previously designated for relaxed traffic enforcement, meaning LADOT only ticketed vehicles for safety violations. Starting June 1, all traffic violations, including parking meters, street sweeping, and rush hour/gridlock parking restrictions, will be enforced in the area in red. Relaxed enforcement of safety violations only will continue in the area north of Sunset Blvd and west of Mandeville Canyon Road, outlined in purple in the above map.
Despite the reopening of the Pacific Coast Highway, access to the Palisades remains restricted to persons with a legitimate and verifiable need. Access to the PCH is only available from the south or north of the Palisades. Sunset Blvd will remain closed to the general public west of Amalfi Dr. Learn more about re-entry and obtaining an access pass.
Speed limits in impacted areas of the PCH are reduced to 25 mph. For the safety of repair crews continuing to work in the area, please use caution.
DASH Sylmar and Pacoima Fares Resume June 1
Be advised, riders: fares for DASH Sylmar and DASH Pacoima will resume on June 1, 2025. DASH Sylmar fares were temporarily suspended in response to the wildfire emergency in January. DASH Pacoima, launched at the beginning of May, was fare-free for the month to celebrate the new route.
DASH fare is fifty cents cash or 35 cents with a TAP card, with discounts available for Senior/Disabled/Medicare riders. To learn more about DASH fares, routes, and other LADOT transit services, visit ladottransit.com.
