The Metro D Line Extension is Open

The Metro D Line Extension is Open!

Last week marked a huge milestone for public transportation in Los Angeles: the opening of the Metro D Line extension! Section 1 of the planned extension brings three new transit stations to the region–Wilshire/La Cienega, Wilshire/Fairfax, and Wilshire/La Brea–closing a critical gap in LA’s transit network and connecting Mid-City all the way to Union Station.

The D Line extension will be a game changer for our City. Wilshire Boulevard is one of LA’s busiest corridors, and with these three new stops more Angelenos will have an alternative to the hassle and expense of driving and parking. More transit riders underground means fewer drivers above ground, which will reduce traffic congestion and emissions along Wilshire. More jobs, schools, and cultural institutions will now be accessible without a car. And visitors to our City for events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Games will have more choices for getting around LA.

Section 1 is only the beginning! The D Line expansion will continue in 2027, bringing stations to Beverly Hills, Century City, and Westwood. Visit Metro’s website to learn more about the D Line extension. See you on board!

Last Chance to Share Feedback on Pico Boulevard

Last Chance to Share Feedback on Pico Boulevard

Between June and November 2025, LADOT staff were out in the community, sharing information about the Pico Boulevard Safety and Mobility Plan Project and learning about the needs and priorities of local residents and businesses. This project will bring safety upgrades to 3.5 miles of Pico Boulevard, including a new bike facility, new crossings, and sidewalk repairs. The project team hosted 12 pop-up and tabling events, knocked on over 700 doors, made presentations to local schools and Neighborhood Councils, and reached thousands via a month-long social media campaign. The project survey received over 1,100 responses.

Based on the public’s feedback, LADOT is redesigning Pico Boulevard between Crenshaw Boulevard and Figueroa Street to include one travel lane in each direction, a center turn lane, and protected bike lanes. The project will also install new pedestrian signals at the New Hampshire Avenue and Manhattan Place intersections, and make improvements to sidewalks and curb ramps.

As the project enters the final design phase, the project team is reconnecting with residents and businesses to share additional details and promote awareness. Submit comments on proposed improvements via the project feedback form by May 31, 2026.

LADOT and partners will be out in the community over the next month. If you would like to talk to LADOT staff directly, please join us at one or more of the following:
