LADOT Celebrates Women's History Month
March is Women’s History Month, and LADOT is excited to celebrate and honor women whose courage, determination, and hard work have made Los Angeles what it is today.
Beyond recognizing women’s contributions to date, Women’s History Month is also an opportunity to focus on our responsibility to build a transportation system that serves all Angelenos. Women often have unique transportation needs and barriers to accessing mobility options. According to Transportation for America, women are less likely than men to follow a typical 9-5 commute, making multi-purpose trips that often include school drop-offs and grocery shopping. When we design transportation systems only around 9-5 commuters, we are leaving these women behind.
That’s why at LADOT we are always looking for ways to improve and expand our services. As part of our ongoing efforts to better understand and meet the transit needs of our riders of all gender identities, I encourage you to take our RIDER survey by March 15th.
I’m proud to lead LADOT, a department that employs many talented, dedicated women in fields which have been historically dominated by men. I hope you’ll join me this month in saluting the women who have made our City great!

LADOT Activates Two New Grand Avenue Traffic Signals
Last week, LADOT activated two new traffic signals on Grand Avenue in the Historic South Central neighborhood, at 27th Street and 28th Street. These activations included new crosswalks and striping. The two new signals will provide easier and safer connections to important community resources like the nearby Department of Social Services and the H. Claude Hudson county health center.
Thanks to our crews for their work installing and activating these signals so LADOT can continue our work of making LA’s streets safer for all.

Join us for Virtual and In-Person Town Halls on the Westside
Please join LADOT at our upcoming open houses where we will share what we heard from the community, next steps for Ohio Avenue, and our proposed design for Westwood Boulevard!
This past fall, LADOT engaged with more than 7,500 community members through pop-ups, surveys, and events to understand priorities for Ohio Avenue and Westwood Boulevard. Participants overwhelmingly emphasized the need for added safety measures including safer crossings, dedicated space for cyclists, and calmer traffic.
These open houses will provide the community with an opportunity to share additional thoughts that will guide the final design of the safety and mobility improvements. Children are welcome to join and refreshments will be served. Spanish and Mandarin interpretation will be provided upon request.

Street closures will begin as early as 3am, with all road closures final by 6am. Crossing the marathon route is not permitted. The race will begin at 7am, with roads reopening on a rolling basis at the discretion of LAFD and LAPD. Drivers are encouraged to adjust travel times and plan alternate routes.

Join the RIDER Survey Virtual Town Hall
LADOT is rolling out Real Input Driving Everyday Routes (RIDER), a City-wide study that seeks to explore how LADOT’s transit services can better meet the needs of riders. Your feedback will help LADOT provide clear recommendations for improving reliability, efficiency, and equity across the transit system.
We invite you to join us virtually at a community town hall to learn more about the study and offer your thoughts. The virtual meeting will be held on March 11, 2026 at 6:00pm PST. RSVP RIDER Virtual Town Hall.
Can't make it to the meeting? You can still take the RIDER survey by Sunday, March 15, 2026, to be entered into a drawing for a chance to receive a $50 VISA gift card. Limit one entry per person.
