7th St Improvement Project Groundbreaking Ceremony

This week LADOT along with StreetsLA, BOE, BSL, LA Sanitation, and support from Council District 14, celebrated breaking ground for Phase I of the 7th Street Improvement project. The new safety features in this project will help to improve pedestrian and bicyclist experiences and improve connectivity between modes of transportation. With collaboration across agencies, this improvement project will bring safety features such as:

  • transit islands,
  • raised cycle tracks,
  • new ADA compliant curb ramps,
  • corner islands,
  • micro-mobility stations,
  • hundreds of new trees,
  • new street furniture, and lighting
  • high visibility continental crosswalks.

By creating this multi-modal corridor in the heart of LA we are connecting people to essential jobs on a street that will be safe, comfortable, and beautiful. Construction is set to begin next week on April 11th from Figueroa to San Pedro.

Debuting the Riverside Bike Lane!

Debuting the Riverside Bike Lane!

This week LADOT joined Councilmember Nithya Raman alongside members of the Los Feliz community to debut the city's newest protected bike lane along Riverside Drive. The half-mile stretch of road was recently resurfaced by our sister agency StreetsLA. LADOT took this opportunity to install a new striping design on the street that would better serve the community.

Following several months of outreach which included community meetings with the Los Feliz and Silverlake Neighborhood Councils and other neighborhood groups. In these meetings, we found tremendous support to place improved bicycle infrastructure that would better connect the community with neighborhood amenities like Griffith Park and the LA River Bike Path.

Thank you to the community for coming out in support of this project that will deliver a healthier, safer, more sustainable transportation network for all!

Reseda Blvd Construction Update

Reseda Blvd Construction Update

We’ve been diligently working on the Reseda Complete Streets Project for a year and a half. Since the start of its construction in October of 2020 LA crews have worked on rebuilding driveways, sidewalks, and curb ramps making it a safer, smoother surface for people walking, rolling, and driving on Reseda Blvd. Crews are also constructing mid-block curb ramps to ensure that people who are using a wheelchair or other mobility device have the proper and safe access to safely cross the bike lane and get on the sidewalk.

There are still more improvements to come. Beginning this month crews will start the construction of 11 new bus boarding islands which will help to improve efficiency with bus pick-up and drop-off and safety for bicyclists as the island will be separate from the bike lanes. This multi-agency project will transform Reseda Blvd between Parthenia St and Victory Blvd with the construction of the islands beginning at Chase St, and continue southward along the west side of the street over the next few months. By summer, crews will be upgrading traffic signals including new protected left-turn signals at 8 locations for drivers making left turns at Reseda Blvd.

Throughout this improvement process, we want to remind you that drivers on Reseda should expect temporary lane closures around each project site, and are asked to drive carefully and look out for detour signs.

We encourage you to learn more about this project and give us your feedback on the project website.
