Free CityRide Membership Drive in South LA
At LADOT, we’re always looking for new ways to connect Angelenos with the services they need to move around the city safely and affordably. That’s why I’m excited about a new initiative that offers qualified residents free membership to our CityRide program. Thanks to a grant from the State of California’s Sustainable Transportation Equity Program (STEP), we are able to provide 5000 memberships to residents who live within the pilot zone of our South LA Universal Basic Mobility program for the next year!
A CityRide membership provides affordable on-demand transportation services, such as accessible taxi and shuttle service, for seniors and qualified individuals with disabilities to help people get to medical appointments, grocery stores, social outings, and more. Normally, it costs $21 for $84 in quarterly fare value. Members who apply and enroll through this new program and who live within the designated area will receive the $84 quarterly fare value for free and can use it for any of the services shown in the article below. Applications for the subsidized program begin tomorrow, April 24. Apply to be a member at https://www.ladottransit.com/cityride/index.html.
Whether or not you live in the project area, CityRide provides safe and affordable transit service for all individuals 65 or older or those with a qualifying disability. Take advantage of everything CityRide has to offer and start riding with confidence, comfort, and savings.
LADOT Completes Northbound Protected Bike Lanes on San Vicente
LADOT recently completed the northbound protected bike lanes on San Vicente Blvd between Rodondo Blvd and Pico Blvd. In 2022, LADOT and StreetsLA began implementing the San Vicente Safety and Mobility Project, but construction conditions at the time prevented part of the roadway from being resurfaced and the project was put on hold.
Following the recent repaving of the north side of San Vicente between La Brea and Orange, LADOT extended the northbound protected bike lane, including safety buffers and bollards to create a more comfortable and accessible street for all. One northbound travel lane (between La Brea and Pico) has been repurposed to calm traffic and provide a dedicated space for people biking. This change will also help keep the roadway consistent to a two-lane roadway as it currently exists south of Pico and north of Rodondo, reducing delays caused by vehicles merging.
LADOT Welcomes Eisenhower Fellow for Sustainability Exchange
Yesterday, LADOT had the pleasure of welcoming Jingde (Mark) Lin, an Eisenhower Fellow in the 2025 Global Program, for an engaging conversation about sustainability, innovation, and the future of urban mobility.
Mark met with members of our LADOT team to learn more about our efforts to make streets safer, more connected, and more sustainable for everyone, and to share his vision of building an urban innovation accelerator and social venture fund that supports young entrepreneurs creating sustainable solutions for future cities.
As part of his Fellowship, Mark is exploring how urban technology, climate resilience, and mobility tech can help cities become more inclusive and environmentally responsible.
LADOT is honored to have been part of his journey as he continues gathering insights from organizations across the U.S. to inform his work in Taiwan and beyond.

Syunik Zohrabyan, Transportation Engineering Associate II
Syunik is a Transportation Engineer in the Special Traffic Operations Office, recently assigned to support transportation initiatives for the upcoming 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Born in Armenia, Syunik's family emigrated to the U.S in 2003, settling in Los Angeles for more significant opportunities. "I've been an Angeleno ever since," Syunik says, "and I'm thankful for the opportunities this city has given me."
Working in transportation is important to Syunik, especially when projects benefit the neighborhoods and communities he calls home. "Being able to work on local projects and assist during emergencies brings me fulfillment," he shares.
For anyone seeking an authentic Armenian experience, Syunik recommends attending Ginifest, Glendale's popular Armenian wine festival. He also suggests trying Lahmajun, an Armenian-style flatbread pizza found in local bakeries.
When asked what he loves most about Los Angeles, Syunik highlights the city's diversity and the food scene. “Besides the weather, the City's multiculturalism brings a great variety of food and fusion restaurants.”
