Mayor Garcetti today extended relaxed parking enforcement across the City of Los Angeles until October 1, making it easier for Angelenos to stay home whenever possible without being concerned about a ticket.

Last month — in order to balance the needs of local businesses and the health concerns surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic — the city launched L.A. Al Fresco, a new program that is supported by LADOT and which allows restaurants to expand dining areas into parking lanes, driving lanes, and adjacent private lots to encourage safe physical distancing for customers. To facilitate this expansion of outdoor dining options, the city will provide planters, barricades, and umbrellas for businesses to use in newly permitted spaces.

LADOT Parking Enforcement will be extending current relaxed parking enforcement regulations until July 6 to support Los Angeles residents as they stay safer at home.

LADOT has also extended the deadline for payment on existing parking fines to July 6. While residents are encouraged to pay any existing fines if they are able, there will be no increase in fines for failure to pay until July 6.

Consistent with extended "Stay at Home" orders, certain parking regulations will remain relaxed until at least June 1, 2020. While some parking regulations are relaxed at this time, others remain enforced.

Thank you for your interest in Slow Streets. Since LADOT set up the program in May 2020, we've installed over 50 miles of Slow Streets in 30 neighborhoods throughout the City. The Slow Streets program was set up as a response to the closure of popular recreation places like parks and trails. On April 2, LADOT announced a new effort to help restaurants and other foodservice providers cope with increased demand for pick-up and delivery options caused by the outbreak of COVID-19.
