LADOT joins Mayor Garcetti in supporting Los Angeles' diverse communities during this difficult time. With so many immigrant communities speaking multiple languages across Los Angeles, we want to be sure that relevant information is widely available and easily accessible and that language is not a barrier to accessing life saving information. L.A.'s Office of Immigrant Affairs has produced the informational notices below in multiple languages so that they can be easily downloaded and shared. If you are or know people who could benefit from having access to these translations please…

Today, LADOT implemented the first partial street closure as part of the L.A. Al Fresco program. L.A. Al Fresco supports restaurants impacted by COVID-19 by allowing for expanded outdoor dining options on sidewalks, private parking lots, and on streets by converting parking lanes and travel lanes to dining areas.

”We’ve empowered business-owners and neighbors to tell us how they would like to use streets,” said LADOT General Manager Seleta Reynolds. “In hundreds of places across the city, they’ve told us that creating places for people to safely gather is a priority. Today marks…

Mayor Garcetti today extended relaxed parking enforcement across the City of Los Angeles until October 1, making it easier for Angelenos to stay home whenever possible without being concerned about a ticket.

LADOT Assistant General Manager for External Affairs and LADOT's Racial Equity Officer recently posted an article on Medium analyzing travel trends during the COVID-19 pandemic. An excerpt is reproduced below:

It’s common knowledge that COVID-19 has dramatically changed how people travel, and plummeted demand for transportation services. But new data analysis reveals how race, income and zip code vastly affected changes in Los Angeles. As cities grapple with how to manage the effects of this health and economic crisis, LADOT launched…

Last month — in order to balance the needs of local businesses and the health concerns surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic — the city launched L.A. Al Fresco, a new program that is supported by LADOT and which allows restaurants to expand dining areas into parking lanes, driving lanes, and adjacent private lots to encourage safe physical distancing for customers. To facilitate this expansion of outdoor dining options, the city will provide planters, barricades, and umbrellas for businesses to use in newly permitted spaces.

Thank you for your interest in Slow Streets. Since LADOT set up the program in May 2020, we've installed over 50 miles of Slow Streets in 30 neighborhoods throughout the City. The Slow Streets program was set up as a response to the closure of popular recreation places like parks and trails. The goal is to create an opportunity for people to stay physically active while socially distant by reducing speeding on neighborhood streets.

The materials chosen to implement Slow Streets at the beginning were a temporary fix to what many thought would be a short-term problem. However, it's…

On April 2, LADOT announced a new effort to help restaurants and other foodservice providers cope with increased demand for pick-up and delivery options caused by the outbreak of COVID-19. With all dine-in services temporarily suspended, delivery and take-out options have become the only source of revenue for many Los Angeles area food establishments. However, some locations lacked adequate parking to support the increased need for parking.

To support these essential businesses, LADOT established new "Food Pick-Up Zones" allowing restaurants and food providers to apply for a…
