LADOT Announces New 'Express Lane' Service to L.A. Vaccination Sites for Seniors and Paratransit Clients
LADOT Cityride, which provides on-demand transportation to eligible seniors and individuals with accessibility needs, is offering “Express Lane” service to three COVID-19 vaccination sites in the Los Angeles area starting today. The Express Lane service will pick up Cityride members who have a scheduled vaccination appointment on request and provide transportation directly to the front of the line. The vehicle will wait while the individual receives their vaccination and return them to their point of origin, at no extra charge.
“Transportation should never be the gap that stands between our residents and the vaccine,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti. “Vaccines are our ticket to ending this pandemic, and this program will help break down a barrier that can keep our most vulnerable residents from accessing these life-saving doses.”
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, LADOT Transit has stepped up to protect the health and safety of our communities,” said LADOT General Manager Seleta Reynolds. “The Cityride Express Lane service is just the latest example to help those who may struggle to access drive-through vaccination locations. I encourage everyone eligible to take advantage of this service and get vaccinated. There has never been a better time to become a Cityride member.”
Express Lane service is available for appointments at the CalState LA, the Forum in Inglewood, or Dodger Stadium vaccination sites. An individual must have an appointment for vaccination and be an active Cityride participant to take advantage of the Express Lane service. The vaccine will be given in the van, and the van will be scheduled to wait the appropriate observation period before departing the vaccination site. The driver will remain on the vehicle with the passenger during the entire process.
Clients should book trips one to two business days in advance and should state that a trip is needed for a vaccine appointment to an approved location. Trips must be made during normal business hours. For more information, please visit the Cityride website.
