Speed Humps
**The Speed Hump Application Process is currently closed**
Thank you for your interest in the Citywide Residential Speed Hump Program. We are currently not accepting applications for new speed hump requests.
*For applications submitted during our last open application cycle in March 2024, we are currently in Step 2 of the process. We will notify applicants regarding Step 3 by the end of the summer.
Review the 2024 Speed Hump Program Evaluation Guidelines and 2024 Speed Hump Program Fact Sheet to determine if your street meets the minimum criteria required for speed hump installation before you decide to apply. Only one applicant per street segment request will be allowed. The applicant will be the Block Representative and will be responsible for all related correspondence with our staff.
*Your street segment must meet the following minimum criteria:
• Be a residential street
• Have only one travel lane in each direction
• Have a speed limit of 30 miles per hour or less
The request for speed humps is a 3-Step process that includes multiple levels of review.
Step 1: A neighborhood "Block" representative submits an online application.
Step 2: Applications will be reviewed to determine if the requested street segment meets the basic criteria for speed hump installation. LADOT will then conduct a study to determine if speed humps are feasible and justified based upon technical criteria and available funding.
Step 3: LADOT will provide the Block Representative with a “Step 3” Survey of Residents Form if your street segment is found to be feasible and construction funding is available. The Block Representative is required to obtain signatures of support for the speed hump installation from at least two-thirds (66.7%) of the affected residences on the street segment to proceed.
Locations that complete the Step 3 process will move forward to the design and construction of speed humps on the requested street segment.
