LADOT News

As we head into Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude with every Angeleno who helps keep Los Angeles moving. Whether you’re catching a DASH to see loved ones, taking a scenic walk through your neighborhood, or driving across town for a family feast, your journeys remind us what this season is all about: connection.

Transportation may be what we do, but it’s people like you who give it purpose. Every trip taken brings families together, supports local businesses, and keeps our city vibrant and alive. This time...

Broadway has always been one of Los Angeles’ most important streets, a place full of history that provides a key connection from South LA neighborhoods to Downtown destinations. Now, LADOT, in partnership with Metro, is looking to build on that legacy by improving safety and mobility along a 3.5-mile stretch of South Broadway from Manchester Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

LADOT has just launched a community engagement effort to solicit input on upgrades that make traveling safer and more comfortable for everyone,...

This Sunday, November 16, LADOT joins with survivors, advocates, and family members of victims of traffic violence around the world in observing World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, a day to honor those who have lost their lives or been injured in traffic collisions, and to recommit ourselves to building safer streets for everyone.

Traffic violence leaves an impact that ripples through families and communities. Each statistic represents a person, a loved one whose life was cut short or inalterably changed in an instant....

The way the City of Los Angeles plans and invests in our transportation system has far reaching impacts. Decisions we make today impact the safety of our roads, the long-term health of communities, and the sustainability and resilience of our city as a whole.

That is why LADOT wants to hear your input on how the department should prioritize transportation projects as it develops the Mobility Action Plan (MAP). The MAP builds off the Mobility Plan 2035 to guide how LA invests in streets, transit, biking, and walking for the next 5–20 years....

On November 3, 2025 the Dodgers will celebrate their second consecutive World Series victory with a parade in Downtown Los Angeles. Closures will take effect on streets South of Chinatown and Cesar Chavez, North of 8th Street, West of Spring Street, and East of the I-110 Freeway.

Additionally, the California State Transportation Agency CalTrans and California Highway Patrol will closing the following freeway entrances and exits near the parade.

Halloween in Los Angeles is always a treat. Whether you’re heading out with little ones, enjoying community events, or just admiring the creativity around town, it’s a night that reminds us of the importance of slowing down and connecting.

As we celebrate, let’s also make sure everyone gets home safely. Drivers, keep your eyes peeled for trick-or-treaters and go slow through residential streets. Pedestrians, stay visible with bright or reflective clothing, and avoid distractions like your looking at your phone while walking. And for everyone, if you’re biking...

Last week, LADOT had the special honor of hosting California Transportation Secretary Toks Omishakin and Health and Human Services Secretary Kim Johnson in South Los Angeles. They joined us on Avalon Boulevard for the signing of the new Secretary’s Policy on Road Safety, a major step forward in California’s commitment to making our streets safer for everyone. It was an inspiring moment to see state and city leaders come together, united by one shared goal: saving lives on our roads.

Avalon Boulevard was chosen as one of the state’s first Safety...

Tomorrow marks the start of the 52nd Los Angeles Korean Festival! From October 16–19, Seoul International Park will transform into a celebration of culture, music, and food that brings together communities from across Los Angeles. This year’s theme, Beyond Boundaries, captures the spirit of connection where every neighborhood and culture adds to the rhythm of Los Angeles.

At LADOT, we’re proud to help keep that rhythm moving. With thousands expected to attend, we’re supporting the festival free DASH service on the Wilshire Center/Koreatown route and expanded...

On Sunday, October 12, the streets of Los Angeles will transform into a car-free playground for CicLAvia’s “Heart of LA” marking an extra special 15th anniversary event! This is the route that started it all: seven miles connecting neighborhoods like Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Boyle Heights, Echo Park, and Downtown, offering a truly unique way to experience the historic core of Los Angeles.

CicLAvia allows Angelenos and visitors to rediscover the places and people that make Los Angeles great. With no cars in the way, you can...

If you’ve rolled down 3rd Street lately, you might have noticed something new: concrete barriers separating traffic lanes from the bike lane between Main and Spring! This treatment - called Toronto Barriers - is made from pre-cast concrete and part of a pilot project designed to provide cyclists greater protection. Since the barriers are made offsite and attached to the roadway, they offer a less expensive safety improvement that can be installed more quickly at more locations across the city than traditional concrete barriers.

This is the...
