Los Angeles Wraps Up A Successful and Safe IX Summit Of The Americas

Los Angeles Wraps Up A Successful and Safe IX Summit Of The AmericasLast week, Los Angeles showed once again why we are a place that attracts people from across the world as leaders and dignitaries from across the Western Hemisphere gathered for a successful ninth Summit of the Americas. This was the first summit held within the United States since the first was held almost three decades ago in Miami. While we know the event had an impact on many Angeleno's commutes in the downtown area, we want to give a special shout-out to our LADOT Special Traffic Operations for safely securing closures and to our Traffic Officers for helping to guide traffic during the week.

The summit is an opportunity for world leaders to develop strategies for shared goals for the future. One of these goals is ensuring a sustainable future for our region, a goal that is central to LADOT's mission. One moment during the conference underscored how our local initiatives are the building blocks for these greater regional goals. As the President's Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry was visiting the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator, LADOT was able to provide his transport on one of our brand new all-electric, zero-emission buses showcasing how LADOT is leading on sustainability through our efforts to convert our full fleet to zero-emission buses by 2028.
