Mobility Wallet Phase II Has Begun

Mobility Wallet Phase II Has Begun!

Over the last few weeks, 2,000 participants in Los Angeles County received debit cards pre-loaded with $1,800 that can be used on transportation options that work for them and their families. This grant funded program, made possible by the State of California’s Sustainable Transportation Equity Program, is the largest transit subsidy program nation and can be used to pay for transportation services such as public transit, rideshare, bikes, scooters, and more.

This second phase follows a successful pilot that provided similar support to 1,000 participants last year. Participants of the first phase shared that supporting their travel helped reduce stress by allowing them to pay off debts, access medical care, and even build savings. The cost of commuting to work, running errands, and every day travel can add up and the Mobility Wallet helps ease that financial burden.

By allowing recipients the freedom to choose which mode to spend their transportation dollars on, the Mobility Wallet gives transit dependent riders more options to meet their mobility needs. As many Angelenos have expressed concern using public transit during recent Federal law enforcement activities, the Mobility Wallet can ensure they still get to work, school, or doctors appointments on time.

LADOT is proud to contribute to a more connected and accessible Los Angeles, and we look forward to seeing the success of this latest phase of this program!

Phase II of the Mobility Wallet Pilot Program Begins

Phase II of the Mobility Wallet Pilot Program Begins This Month

LADOT, in partnership with Metro, is pleased to announce the start of Phase II of the Mobility Wallet Pilot Program. The Mobility Wallet, the largest program of its kind in the nation, provides participants with a prepaid debit card for $1,800 a year to use on a variety of shared transportation services, including public transportation, rideshare, micromobility, taxis and purchases at bike stores. Mobility Wallet prepaid debit cards have been delivered to the 2,000 selected participants for Phase II.

Phase I of this pilot, which ran from May 2023 to May 2024, provided wallets to 1,000 low-income residents of South Los Angeles. Phase I garnered positive feedback from participants, who praised the program’s flexibility and reported that it made it easier to get to work, school, doctor’s appointments, and to explore Los Angeles. Phase II expands the program to include 1,000 wallets to South LA residents and an additional 1,000 wallets to qualified LA county residents.

The Mobility Wallet pilot is part of LADOT’s Universal Basic Mobility (UBM) program, which aims to enhance transportation equity and access to opportunity by removing barriers to transportation.

Outreach efforts for Phase III of the pilot, scheduled to launch in 2026 and expand to more participants, have already begun. The third phase is supported by Caltrans and a federal ATTAIN grant. Feedback on the Spring St Mobility Project

Share Your Feedback on the Spring St and Alameda St Safety and Mobility Project

LADOT is kicking off a new planning effort to improve safety and mobility along Spring St and Alameda St. These corridors connect neighborhoods to key destinations such as LA State Historic Park, Chinatown, Olvera Street, Union Station, Downtown LA, and the LA River Bike Path – but today, there are critical gaps in the transportation network and ongoing safety concerns for people walking, biking, and taking public transit.

If you live, work, or spend time in the project area, we want to hear from you! Your feedback will guide the types of improvements we consider and help us to better understand how the street can serve the needs of everyone.

Take the Spring St. and Alameda St. survey before September 8, 2025. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of two $50 gift cards.

Take the Pico Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project Survey

Take the Pico Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project Survey

LADOT wants to hear your thoughts on improving transportation safety along Pico Boulevard, especially for those who walk, bike, and take transit. Pico is a major street used to access jobs, destinations, and community institutions. LADOT is prioritizing safety and accessibility improvements on Pico Boulevard that include: reducing the number of travel lanes to improve driving behavior; adding a new bicycle facility to expand mobility options and improve safety for bicyclists; adding new crossings to improve pedestrian safety and access; and other street safety features.

Take the Pico Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project Survey before September 8, 2025 and let us know how you travel along Pico Boulevard and what safety improvements you’d like to see prioritized along the corridor. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of two $50 gift cards.
