La Brea Bus Lane Construction Nears Completion

La Brea Bus Lane Construction Nears Completion

Over the past month, we have been working with Metro to bring new bus priority lanes to La Brea Ave. The La Brea Ave Bus Priority Lanes Project is part of the Next Gen Bus Plan, a reimagined bus system that focuses on providing fast, frequent, reliable, and accessible service to meet the needs of today’s riders. The lanes being installed along La Brea Ave, between Sunset and Olympic boulevards will be in operation on weekdays during peak traffic periods from 7-9 am and 4-7 p.m. LADOT has been working in collaboration with Metro and contractors to restripe curbside lanes, replace existing signage with new bus lane signs, and install pavement markings.

We know that traffic congestion can steal time and cause safety issues for those who use public transit. LADOT has been working to bring bus lane improvements throughout the city. This year alone, our partnership with Metro has delivered recently completed bus priority lanes on Venice Blvd as part of the Venice Boulevard Mobility Improvements Project and, following La Brea, will deliver additional bus lanes on Sepulveda Blvd.

As we continue to work towards the completion of the bus lanes on La Brea, temporary lane closures will occur on La Brea between Sunset and Orange Drive, as necessary.

LADOT Now Hiring Crossing Guards

LADOT is now accepting applications for new Crossing Guards. Crossing guards keep students safe traveling to and from school and help educate and instill safe, alert walking behaviors in young Angelenos. Our crossing guards are placed at schools throughout the city and help provide experience and judgment to help children navigate a school crossing, while also increasing the visibility of their presence to drivers.

If you are interested in applying for a crossing guard position you can visit the website for the application and instructions on how to apply.

LADOT is ensuring that the opportunities and benefits from the electric vehicle revolution happening on our streets lift up our city's residents by funding training programs at LATTC. The EV training program certifies young technicians in the maintenance and safety of electric vehicles and prepares them for employment in this booming industry. We spoke with some of the students recently who shared their experiences with us.
