LADOT Brings Play Streets to Green Meadow
This weekend, community members in Green Meadow had an amazing time at the LA Play Streets event located on 89th Street between San Pedro and Avalon. Play Streets is an incredible initiative that provides a fun and affordable way for us and our neighbors to transform our street into a vibrant playground suitable for all ages. This event served as a powerful reminder of how safe streets and public spaces can serve as the vibrant core of thriving neighborhoods.
The Los Angeles Play Streets Program was created with the goal of improving public health, neighborhood safety, and community connections. The program is community-led allowing Angelenos to decide when and where they want to play and then work with us to make it happen. We recognize that safe streets and public spaces play a major role in what creates thriving neighborhoods and look forward to bringing this program to other neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles.

New Micro-mobility Special Operations Zone at USC
LADOT is pleased to have collaborated closely with the USC Transportation team over the past few months to address ADA violations and clutter caused by Micro-mobility devices around the USC Campus by creating a Special Operations Zone (SOZ). USC staff notified LADOT of the ongoing issues and, through meaningful discussions, identified potential parking solutions. LADOT recommended a geofence around the campus and digital parking locations to streamline the process and provide flexibility for future locations.
The USC Geofence policy was officially launched on September 15, 2023, prohibiting micro-mobility devices from ending trips within the geofenced area unless they are in one of the 23 designated drop zone locations.
Now Hiring: Crossing Guards
LADOT is now accepting applications for new Crossing Guards. Crossing guards keep students safe traveling to and from school and help educate and instill safe, alert walking behaviors in young Angelenos. Our crossing guards are placed at schools throughout the city and help provide experience and judgment to help children navigate a school crossing, while also increasing the visibility of their presence to drivers.

Los Angeles Department of Transportation invites applications for the position of Signal Systems Electrician, an Emergency Appointment Opportunity. A Signal Systems Electrician performs technical skilled work and may act as a lead for and work with signal construction or signal systems crew installing, repairing, maintaining, and modifying electric and microprocessor based traffic signal control devices, and video and computer communication systems.
