New Two Way Protected Bike Lane in North Hills

New Two-Way Protected Bike Lane in North Hills

New Two Way Protected Bike Lane in North Hills 2A new two-way bike lane has just been completed along Parthenia Place, extending from Sepulveda to Barnet. This new improvement provides a designated area for Angelenos to cycle within the community, connecting them conveniently to North Hills Community Park and Valor Academy Middle School, just a few blocks away. The colored pavement within the lanes enhances visibility for both the lane itself and cyclists, promoting safety by delineating a clear pathway for bicyclists while increasing awareness among drivers.

LADOT Carmen E Turner

LADOT Celebrates Black Pioneers in Transportation History - Carmen E. Turner

In 1983, Carmen E. Turner shattered barriers as the first African-American woman to lead a major transit agency, spearheading the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Her appointment marked a significant advancement for women in transportation leadership. Turner, originally from Teaneck, New Jersey, began her career in administrative roles for federal agencies before joining the Urban Mass Transportation Administration in 1974. Rising through the ranks, she became WMATA's general manager in 1983, overseeing substantial expansion and earning accolades, including WMATA's recognition as the nation's top transit system in 1988. Turner's leadership secured congressional funding for the completion of Metrorail service. Despite her departure from WMATA, Turner's legacy was honored with the naming of WMATA's facility in Hyattsville after her passing in 2003, a testament to her leadership and contribution to the city’s transit network.

Benedict Canyon Closure

Benedict Canyon Closure

Please be advised that LADOT has recently put in a closure at Benedict Canyon, in addition to Mulholland Drive allowing no through traffic due to recent heavy rainfall. Engineering assessments are underway, and the City is finalizing repair plans before issuing contracts for the necessary work. The timeline for reopening depends on weather conditions, and we appreciate residents' continued cooperation during this closure. Drivers are urged to follow signs and traffic officers' instructions for safety as repairs progress.

See this map detailing current locations of road closures in the City.
