Mayor Karen Bass Visits LADOT Parking Enforcement Roll Call

This morning Mayor Karen Bass attended LADOT's Southern District Parking Enforcement and Traffic Control Division roll call to meet with frontline personnel, take questions, and discuss how our department fits in with her citywide, proactive approach to addressing the homelessness crisis. LADOT Traffic Officers provide critical support in protecting neighborhood quality of life and supporting emergency response. The meeting allowed the city's new mayor to share her priorities directly with the city's frontline staff and for our traffic officers to ask questions and share their insights on how LADOT can support the mission.

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, LADOT Parking Enforcement and Traffic Control (PETC) officers are on duty ensuring the delivery of city services and supporting multiple departments. The PETC Communications division fields calls for service such as reports of blocked driveways or abandoned vehicles at our dispatch center at all hours. Officers also respond during emergency evacuations and other major traffic events such as sporting events or road closures during CicLAvia.

Traffic Officers have also taken a lead role in our city's homelessness response efforts working with individuals dwelling in vehicles. Parking enforcement teams collaborate with homeless service agencies to direct outreach efforts and ensure vehicles do not present environmental or safety hazards in the public right of way.

These men and women have served throughout the pandemic and continue to support Los Angeles communities and protect the quality of life of Los Angeles neighborhoods. Thank you Mayor Bass for joining us this week and acknowledging all the hard work our Traffic Officers do to support our city.
