LADOT Requesting Feedback For Upcoming Projects

At LADOT our goal is to develop streets and transportation options that are safe, enjoyable, and accessible for all who move through Los Angeles. What better way to do that than to hear directly from you? To better serve and understand your needs, we reach out to residents and stakeholders within communities where there are upcoming projects to find out how we can improve the streets where you travel every day.

We have two upcoming projects that need your feedback:

Culver City Station MAT Survey w/ Metro:
- This Project works to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety in the City of Los Angeles within the half-mile radius of the Culver City E Line. By filling out this survey we will be able to develop a refined list of projects and improvements. Take the Survey
Forest Lawn Dr. Bike Lane Survey:
- The high speeds on Forest Lawn Drive creates an unsafe environment for the bicyclists who use the bike facilities along this corridor. The Forest Lawn Drive Active Transportation & Traffic Safety Project aims to reconfigure this street to improve safety and access for all travelers. Take the survey

South LA Residents Travel Easier and Safer with the Help of Mobility Wallet

Residents of South L.A. are able to travel and more easily meet their needs thanks to the launch of the UBM "Mobility Wallet". Back in May, LADOT and Metro launched the wallet for a randomly selected group of qualified residents in South L.A. The program provides participants $150 per month for 12 months to use for multiple modes of transportation including, transit, rideshare, taxis, carshare, bikeshare, or micromobility allowing one person or several members of the same household to travel by whichever means works best for them. Since its launch in May 2023 through July 18, over 1,000 debit cards have been distributed and 9,485 transactions have been completed according to data from Metro.

Users of the mobility wallet say it has been a great help for daily commute to work and the supermarket, others say it has given them an opportunity to travel in ways they couldn’t before due to budget constraints. Metro and LADOT are looking at ways to expand the program. The second phase of the program is planned to launch this winter.

The Mobility Wallet is one component of LADOT's larger Universal Basic Mobility (UBM) program. LADOT launched UBM through a grant from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to improve equity and access to transportation. Acces to opportunity requires access to mobility and ensuring that all people have safe, affordable, and dignified transportation choices.

CA State Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer Tours South L.A. Facility

Recently Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer toured the Tresa McCoy Regional Training Center in South LA. This facility is where Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) training will take place as part of the South LA-Eco Lab collaborative for the Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) grant from the California Strategic Growth Council (SGC). During the tour, he presented the $35 million grant LADOT secured last year which established the South LA Eco Lab.

Last year we joined several partners in launching the South LA Eco-Lab. It's a community-driven project to facilitate economic development through Climate Action within the project area to achieve the community’s vision for a socially inclusive, sustainable, green community resilient to climate change, in the heart of South Los Angeles. The project will invest in infrastructure projects South LA Eco-Lab will invest in infrastructure projects such as LADOT Stress Free connections and EV Car Share, StreetsLA Cool Pavement projects, home solar installation through GRID Alternatives, street trees, and school greening providing open space and stormwater capture benefits while also focusing on robust community engagement, workforce development, and anti-displacement measures. The project has an expected completion date of 2028 when Los Angeles will host the 2028 Olympic Summer Games just a few blocks from the outer boundaries of the project area.

San Fernando Valley Youth Leadership Academy Visits LADOT ATSAC

The Council president's office hosted the San Fernando Valley Youth Leadership Academy with a tour of city facilities which included ATSAC. The leadership academy is a civic engagement program for high school students interested in local government, created by Councilmember Paul Krekorian. The seven-week development summer program gives high school students an up-close look at a career in public service. Students participate in fun, practical projects that directly impact the San Fernando Valley on issues such as youth education and empowerment emergency response and preparedness, city planning, and more.

Students got to visit LADOT’s ATSAC facility which allows LADOT to manage traffic control systems citywide to improve the efficiency of travel. The system manages 4850 traffic signals and is capable of providing prioritization for buses, rail, and pedestrians as well as managing bike signals throughout the city.

CicLAvia Koreatown Meets Hollywood

CicLAvia is opening up streets connecting Koreatown and Hollywood. On August 20th come and enjoy 5 miles of car-free streets. You can walk, run, bike, skate, and use the route however you choose. The route is open to people of all ages and all abilities. Come out and discover local gems and visit the various hubs along the route.

LADOT Requesting Interested RFQ - On-Call Professional Consultant Services

LADOT is in search of qualifying firms that are interested in an opportunity to work with the City of Los Angeles in providing professional consultant services. Services would be on an as-needed basis to support specific task order projects for one or more of fourteen (14) service categories. LADOT Now Hiring Crossing Guards

LADOT is now accepting applications for new Crossing Guards. Crossing guards keep students safe traveling to and from school and help educate and instill safe, alert walking behaviors in young Angelenos. Our crossing guards are placed at schools throughout the city and help provide experience and judgment to help children navigate a school crossing, while also increasing the visibility of their presence to drivers.

Reseda Boulevard Complete Streets Project
