Today, LADOT opened the application process for its neighborhood speed hump program for the first time in two and a half years. Due to high demand, the department reached its limit of applications citywide within the first 15 minutes of opening the application.
The department is pleased to see so many neighborhoods reach out to request this critical street safety treatment that helps make communities safer and more livable. This year, thanks to an increase in our program budget, the Department will be able to double the number of speed humps it delivers equitably across the city.
Now that the application cycle is closed, the department will determine application eligibility over the next few months based on feasibility and in consultation with emergency response departments. For all approved locations, LADOT will contact the applicant as the designated block representative to begin a community outreach process.
