Riverside Drive Mobility Improvements Move Forward

Following a recent community engagement effort, LADOT is working with StreetsLA and the Office of Councilmember Nithya Raman to advance safety and mobility features on Riverside Drive to improve safety, create protected space for people biking, and encourage safer speeds.

Based on community feedback and design considerations, LADOT will advance “Concept 2,” which will install new parking-protected bike lanes on both sides of Riverside Drive, maintain existing parking lanes on both sides of Riverside Dr, and repurpose one northbound travel lane while maintaining both southbound travel lanes. A one-page project fact sheet detailing this community-preferred option is available on the project website: https://ladotlivablestreets.org/projects/RiversideDr

LADOT partner agency StreetsLA has begun work to repave Riverside Drive between Los Feliz Boulevard and Glendale Blvd. This work is scheduled to continue on 3/5/22 and 3/6/22. Following street resurfacing, LADOT will repaint Riverside Drive and implement the new project features.

The Riverside Drive Mobility Improvements feature new protected bicycle lanes on both sides of Riverside Drive, signage, new pavement markings, repainted crosswalks, and changes to the roadway to improve safety and better connect users along this section of Riverside Drive. LADOT anticipates completion of striping and safety upgrades by approximately 3/18/22- 3/25/22.

During project construction, street users should be aware of posted notifications from the City of Los Angeles regarding scheduled work in the right-of-way and temporary parking restrictions on specific days as posted.
