September is National Preparedness Month. Our commitment to keeping Los Angeles moving goes hand-in-hand with ensuring that we’re ready to respond swiftly and effectively in the face of an emergency.

Saluting Our LADOT Crossing Guards as Students Return to School 

When students returned to school this month, LADOT crossing guards were among the familiar faces of teachers and friends welcoming them back from summer vacation. Over the last year, we’ve added more than 150 new crossing guards to our ranks of more than 500 women and men who assist young students at key intersections across the city. LADOT recently implemented numerous safety measures and improvements such as speed humps, crosswalk upgrades, and reduced speed limits, to get children to their classrooms safely....

LADOT Welcomes Students Back to School

It’s back to school season, and LADOT has been hard at work to get our streets ready for returning students! Over the past year, LADOT worked with Mayor Bass and LAUSD to implement the most significant expansion of school safety investments in our city’s history. We lowered school zone speed limits to 15 mph near 200 schools, constructed 200 new speed humps at 56 schools, and installed improvements at 182 intersections -- all to make it safer for students to get to school.

Phase II of UBM's Mobility Wallet Program is Now Open!

Earlier this month, LADOT along with our partners at Metro announced the opening of the application window for Phase II of our Mobility Wallet program. The Mobility Wallet is one of the largest transportation subsidies in the nation and represents a key component of our mission to eliminate mobility barriers for residents by ensuring everyone can access safe and dignified transportation options regardless of income level.
