Thanks to your feedback and sharing your thoughts and experiences of how you travel on Western Ave, we have finished the project design phase for safety improvements on the “Western Our Way” Safety Project. We were out in the Elysian Valley neighborhood last week installing a new left-turn signal on Fletcher and Ripple. Left turn signals are one of the most effective safety improvements for reducing crashes between turning vehicles and people crossing. The way it works allows for drivers to have a designated signal, usually a left turn arrow, that stops oncoming traffic to give drivers making a left turn the complete right of way. Last week our LADOT crews were in Woodland Hills installing a new full traffic signal and crosswalk at the intersection of Onxnard and Variel.
