Connie Llanos Announced as LADOT Interim General Manager

Earlier this week, Mayor Eric Garcetti officially appointed Acting General Manager Connie Llanos as Interim General Manager. Prior to her present position, Ms. Llanos served as LADOT's Chief of Staff and Strategy and the Assistant General Manager of the Office of External Affairs. 3 years ago Connie joined LADOT and has been an instrumental part in helping us to live up to our slogan of “Moving LA Forward”.

Anaheim Project Update

We’ve been steadily working to make Anaheim Street a much safer place for you to commute and now more safety improvements are on their way. The Anaheim Street Safety Project focuses on improving traffic safety and connectivity between Figueroa St and Henry Ford Ave. This section has been named a Priority Corridor due to the high number of fatal and severe injury crashes affecting people walking or biking. Together with StreetsLA and Council District 15, we are redesigning our streets to prioritize human life.

Rainbow Halo Dedication for Jammie Wilson

LADOT joined in mourning with the family and loved ones of Jammie Wilson for the unveiling of a Rainbow Halo in honor of his life. Three years ago a hit-and-run driver senselessly took Jammie’s life at the intersection of Normandie & 51st. LADOT worked with SoCal Families for Safe Streets to install a Rainbow Halo on 51st St. The memorial is a permanent fixture that serves as a reminder of the need to promote safe streets and the necessity for drivers to stay alert and practice safe driving.

Watts Central Ave Great Streets and Safety Project

LADOT and StreetsLA are hard at work to build safety and travel improvements along Central Avenue in Watts. Central Avenue was designated a Great Street in 2019 as a location that serves the economic and community life of the Watts neighborhood. In 2021, LADOT identified this segment of Central as a priority corridor for the department to deliver transformative safety treatments to prevent crashes that result in serious injury or loss of life. Reseda Blvd Complete Streets Project Updates

The Reseda Blvd Complete Streets project continues its transformational progress between Parthenia St and Victory Blvd. Nearly two years ago, we began construction on the $19.5 million multi-agency project in October 2020. Construction is estimated to continue throughout this year, into early 2023.

New Bike Lanes Debut on the N Spring Street Bridge

New Class IV protected bike lanes are now open in both the north and south directions of the North Spring Street bridge. This protected bike lane will connect to new and existing bike lanes at the northern limits of the bridge, along North Broadway from Avenue 18 to Avenue 19. This facility provides a crucial link to the entrance to the Los Angeles River Bike Path. The addition of the new bike lane also connects cyclists to the Los Angeles State Historic Park on the southern end of the bridge.

Breaking Ground for Reimagine Ventura Blvd

Barrington Avenue & Missouri Avenue Crosswalk

LADOT received a service request in February of this year for the installation of a crosswalk to be located across Barrington Avenue at Missouri Avenue. LADOT carefully analyzed the location and decided to install the crosswalk on the north leg of this intersection, due to the existing street geometry where the south leg of Barrington Avenue at Missouri Avenue is 15 feet wider than the north leg.
